Tarabai Eyecare is the largest rural outreach programs in the Thar desert region of India's Rajasthan that is helping eliminate preventable blindness and bringing quality eye care to those who need it the most.
Losing sight doesn't just take away a person's ability to see; it changes the way they experience the world. Blindness directly impacts one's ability to learn, receive an education, and engage in social situations. With your help, we can bring hope and care to millions in the remote villages where extreme temperatures, harsh terrain, poor education, and widespread poverty makes access to healthcare extremely difficult. Tarabai Eyecare USA is a 501 (c)(3) registered non-profit organization.

Sisters, Shobha and Pushpa who is a special needs child came to our free eye camp with congenital cataract. Their parents, unable to afford surgery, were desperate as the delayed treatment had led to the girls situation worsening. They had cataract in both eyes and their vision was a perception of light only. Both girls underwent successful free lens implant surgery at Tarabai Eyecare. They have have recovered with excellent vision and are happy school goers.
Kishore, an unemployed factory worker, came to us with mature cataracts. He barely had any vision and his wife led him by the hand to our eye camp near their village. He had lost his job due to vision loss and the family had little to no income for nearly a year. We operated on both eyes and Kishore made a full recovery. Today, Kishore has regained his independence, his confidence, and his job. The family still visits our eye camps and has helped educate many fellow villagers about eye health.
Parwati Devi had B/L cataract and had been sightless for over 2 years. Her vision was PL+ when she came to us. She could not do her household chores was dependent on her two young daughters for most things. She rarely stepped out of the house and her two daughters had stopped school as they became her primary care takers. Coming from a poor household, she could not get herself operated till she found our camp. At one month F/U her vision was excellent and her RE : 20/25 and LE : 20/30.
