Kachori, a delectable fried patty stuffed with lentils, onions, or mashed potatoes, is a beloved snack. When paired with Mirchi Bada, or chilli fritters, they become the favorite indulgence of Jodhpurites. The village of Rohet is renowned for its Kachori, and people travel the 30-kilometer distance from Jodhpur just to savor this delightful treat.
One bite into the fluffy patty can make anyone agree that the world is a wonderful place, and life is truly worth living if a Kachori from Rohet graces the plate every day! That’s the legendary status of Rohet’s Kachoris. This is the village where we had our last free eye camp of the year on December 31, 2024.
The camp took place at the HP petrol pump, strategically located on the main road that bisects the village. With the generous local support of Mr. R.K. Agarwal, the owner of the petrol station, we successfully organized the camp.
In this camp, we examined and treated 382 patients on-site and prescribed 178 reading glasses to the elderly. Eighteen aged patients were selected for surgery, which was performed free of charge at our base hospital the next day. Needless to say, at the end of the clinic, our team indulged in the famous Kachori to our heart’s content.
