Tarsingdi, a tiny village located 77 kilometers west of Jodhpur in Barmer District, is home to fewer than a thousand residents. On March 25, 2025, our hospital organized a free eye camp in this underserved area, bringing the gift of clear vision to the community. Dr. Vatika Jain and Dr. Joseph Keenan led the efforts, conducting a thorough screening clinic and providing onsite treatment to 163 individuals. Fifty patients with impaired vision were fitted with eyeglasses, enabling them to see the world more vividly. Additionally, 20 individuals requiring advanced care were transported by bus to our base hospital, where they received free cataract surgeries with artificial lens implantation. This initiative exemplifies our commitment to enhancing lives through accessible healthcare and restoring hope to those in need.
The accompanying photographs vividly capture the essence of this extraordinary initiative: the resolute dedication of our team, the heartfelt gratitude etched on the faces of those we served, and the transformative impact of accessible eye care. These moments highlight the significance of our efforts in supporting the National Programme for the Prevention of Blindness, contributing in our own humble way to reducing the prevalence of blindness and alleviating its societal burden.
