One for Luck

In continuation of our mission of combating avoidable blindness, we organized a free eye camp at the Udaimandir Government Dispensary on May 2, 2025. The camp is a monthly feature at the dispensary it provides vital eye care services to the community.

During the camp, our team examined and treated 17 outpatients, addressing various eye conditions on site. One patient diagnosed with cataract was taken to our base hospital and underwent a successful surgery the same day, completely free of charge. This initiative reaffirmed our commitment to bringing quality eye care to underserved communities, restoring sight and transforming lives.

The camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with 350 individuals attending to seek treatment for various eye ailments. Our dedicated team provided comprehensive care and identified 24 patients requiring cataract surgery. While six surgeries had to be deferred due to uncontrolled hypertension or diabetes, the remaining patients underwent successful cataract surgeries that very evening, all free of charge. Each patient also received a gratis artificial lens implant to ensure complete visual rehabilitation.

The event’s success underscores our commitment to alleviating avoidable blindness and reducing its burden in the arid stretches of the Thar Desert. Such initiatives harmonize with the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), turning small, consistent efforts into meaningful change.
